Illinois VISTA members GET THINGS DONE!

This quarter the Illinois VISTA members have been hard at work...and it shows. From July through September ARC VISTAs were providing education and outreach to citizens all over the state and the numbers are amazing! These members have collectively recruited 323 NEW volunteers who have gone on to serve 1390 hours for the American Red Cross in Illinois!
WAY TO GO!

Getting into the swing of things...

I don't know how many of you have recently graduated from college or just have started working again after a long break. If so, maybe you are experiencing the same feeling as I am.

I graduated from college in May and this is now the start of my second month at Red Cross. Although, I feel that I have fully adjusted to working at the Greater Chicago office and love what I am doing I still have this vague feeling that it will all soon be over and I will be going back to school as soon as the weather changes to fall. It's weird!

I am totally looking forward to this year ahead and when I think about it don't really want to go back to tests, homework and crazy roommates any time soon. I'm thinking that giving this new job a little more time will help my brain get the clue that I have now entered the "real world" and I'm not going anywhere!

New Blog!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Vicky Budynsky and I just started as an AmeriCorps VISTA at American Red Cross of Greater Chicago. I have set up this blog as a way for all of the Illinois ARC VISTAs to keep in contact and share their stories and experiences. Please feel free to post things that you want other VISTAs to read such as...something cool you did at work today, a bar/restaurant that has good deals, a good joke or an experience you've had responding to a disaster...anything that you think is important or will keep us entertained!

I hope everyone is having a great day :)
